Sergio Albach has been a respectful name in the musical scenery of Paraná since the eighties. He graduated from University in 1989, at “Escola de Musica e Belas Artes” in Brazil and, since then, has been presenting himself as a versatile and requested instrumentalist in the recording of cds, participation in concerts, musicals, arrangements and compositions. As an instrumentalist, he has taken part in important musical projects, such as “Tom Brasil”, in which he played in the Chamber of Curitiba’s Orchestra with Egberto Gismonti, Wagner Tiso and Paulo Moura in a tourney throughout many national capitals. As a curator of the Brazilian Popular Music Workshop since 2002 also 2014.
In 2002, he became the artistic director of the Brass Orchestra of Curitiba. With this group, he produced six phonographic products. You can listen it here. As a researcher of “Choro”, a Brazilian popular music style, he developed the following projects: Choro no Sebo”, “No TUC tem Choro” and “Roda de Choro do Conservatório de MPB”. As a clarinetist the musician has participated in more than 50 national CDS and has shared the stage with significant and internationally recognised names of the Brazilian music. In april 2016 he premiered a bass clarinet concert solo and with electronics. You can listen to it here.

Choro Muziek
Choro is ontstaan in de 19e eeuw in Rio de Janeiro en een van Brazilië´s meest bekende en populaire muzieksoorten. De toenmalige cariocas, inwoners van Rio, bestonden uit Europeanen, afrikanen, indianen en natuurlijk een mix van deze rassen. De Europese dansen als de polka, schottisch, wals, habanera en mazurka werden doorontwikkeld en beïnvloed door Afrikaanse ritmes zoals de lundu en batuque. Zo ontstond een nieuwe swingende muziekstijl, de choro, waaruit later ook weer de samba is ontstaan.

Choro Festival wordt georganiseerd door de Braziliaanse muziekschool EPM Holanda i.s.m. GROUNDS en het is mede mogelijk gemaakt door Kubox Self Storage, Berimbau de Ouro Capoeira School, de SKVR, Bom Sabor do Brasil, Fonds voor, Juliana Braga Braziliaanse Dans School, Jeugd Cultuur Fonds en Creative Flavours.
